Elastic PU-Foam NBS: Flexible PU Foam for Joints That Keep Moving
Window and door frames expand, contract and settle. A rigid foam joint eventually cracks under that movement, and with it goes the insulation value. Elastic PU-Foam NBS is a one-component, moisture-curing flexible PU foam that remains elastic after curing, with a movement capability (MTV) of 37%. The joint follows the adjoining building elements instead of tearing loose, so thermal and acoustic performance is retained over the long term.
- Permanently elastic after curing, 37% movement capability
- Very low post-expansion: no pressure on frames or profiles
- Sound insulation of 50 dB at 1600 Hz (ISO 717-1)
- Cuttable after 50–65 minutes, fully cured within 24 hours
- Approx. 40 litres of foam from one 750 ml gun-grade can
An Elastic Gun Foam for Window and Door Installation
As a window and door foam, it is made for connection joints around frames and window sills, and for seams, cavities and pipe penetrations exposed to regular movement. Because post-expansion is very low, it behaves like a low expansion foam in narrow joints, while the NBS gun-grade valve gives installers precise, controlled dosing. The cured foam withstands -45 °C to +78 °C. Outdoors, finish the joint with a sealant, membrane or coating, as cured PU foam has limited UV resistance. Adhesion to PE, PTFE and PP is poor.
